Our Story

The Delegates Lounge LLC is an independent podcasting company that aims to infuse the world of high-level diplomacy into your own information superhighway. Our show is hosted by a veteran journalist based at the United Nations headquarters in New York and produced from her office across the hallway from the UN Security Council. On April 8, 2024, under the creeping darkness of a solar eclipse sweeping across North America we formed our company.  Our aim is to spotlight world affairs with enlightening conversations to edify both seasoned insiders and newcomers alike.  Slip into the zone and experience some fascinating exchanges between diplomats, academics, journalists, and other deep thinkers who drop by The Delegates Lounge. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

J. Alex Tarquinio
Co-founder, Editor-in-Chief, and Host

J. Alex Tarquinio is an award-winning journalist based at the United Nations headquarters in New York, where she writes essays about world affairs for Foreign Policy. Her interest in the UN began two decades ago, when she received a journalism fellowship from the German Marshall Fund of the United States for her coverage of the divided Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Then in 2019, she spoke on a high-level panel at the UN headquarters in New York for World Press Freedom Day as President of the Society of Professional Journalists. She co-founded The Delegates Lounge LLC in 2024 with her husband, who serves as the executive producer.

Tarquinio previously covered high finance and high towered real estate while employed in New York as the first Investing Editor at Forbes.com, the Regional Special Sections Editor at The Real Deal, and a Staff Writer at The Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money magazine and at American Banker. You may read her articles in Foreign Policy, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Politico, San Francisco Chronicle, and the late, great International Herald Tribune.
